Dr.
D’Angelo retired from the United States Air Force in 1990 with the rank
of Colonel. A career pilot, he was also a military-political
officer and served overseas tours in Vietnam as a fighter pilot and a
tour of duty in West Africa as an Air Attache. After his military
retirement, he spent two years working on various assignments with the
United States Agency for International Development in the Office of
Foreign Disaster Assistance. Dr. D’Angelo is a 1965 graduate of
Political Science at Duquesne University. He completed his PhD at
Union Institute University in 1998.
He
was a senior consultant to the United Nations in the Department of
Political Affairs (DPA) in the area of conflict prevention from
1998-2004. From 1994 to 1996, he served with the Department of
Humanitarian Affairs and the Department of Peace-keeping Operations in
the United Nations. He was the principle coordinator with the
Department of Political Affairs for the International Day of Peace
(IDP) and a principle partner in the UN system-wide implementation of
the IDP.
In
2002, Dr. D’Angelo founded the International Day of Peace Vigil, which
calls for worldwide spiritual observations on September 21st of every
year. Since leaving the United Nations, he has devoted himself to
the promulgation of the Vigil on a global scale. The IDP Vigil is
now a project under Pathways to Peace (PTP). Dr. D’Angelo
currently serves as a UN representative of PTP. Information on the

- Jack Gannon
Mr.
Gannon retired in May 2005 from Mellon Financial Corporation after 31
years of service. During that time he held various senior
financial positions in Operations, Wholesale Lending and International
Banking departments of the corporation. Mr. Gannon spent his
final year in London, England as the CFO of Mellon’s European
operations.
Mr.
Gannon is a graduate of Duquesne University, with a degree in
accounting. He is a life-long resident of the Pittsburgh area and has
been involved in various social and charitable organizations, primarily
for the development of underprivileged youth. Mr. Gannon was a member
of the church committee of St. Ann’s Catholic Church for 26 years. He
also served as President of the school board for eight years.
After
retiring in May 2005, Mr. Gannon worked on several projects before
joining Dr. George D’Angelo and the International Day of Peace
Vigil. In September, Mr. Gannon attended the IDP Vigil Peace
Festival in Assisi, Italy. In 2006 Mr. Gannon and Mr. D’Angelo made a
successful world tour to promote the International Day of Peace Vigil.
Mr.
Gannon was married for 38 years to Anita Hinchcliff Gannon, who died in
2003 from cancer. They have three married children and nine
grandchildren. In 2007 Mr. Gannon married Deborah L. Sherman who he met
during the IDP World Tour.

- Ashley McNally
Ashley
McNally is the IDP Vigil’s Outreach Cordinator and Multimedia
Assistant. She is from Corning, NY and currently lives in the
Shadyside. She graduated last year from Duquesne with a Bachelor of
Arts and is currently a graduate assistant at Duquesne working towards
her Masters of Science (Multimedia Management). After graduation, she
hopes to find a job in the Broadcasting/ Multimedia field. She studied
abroad in Italy in 2003 and has a passion for traveling.

- Luisa Nayhouse
Luisa
is an outreach coordinator for the IDP Vigil. Luisia currently works in
the Dean’s office of the University of Pittsburgh. She has two Master
Degrees in Psychology and is also a holistic therapist. She has a
special interests in emotional intelligence as it pertains to human
relations. She is a Buddhist with SGI-USA and sees many parallels
between healthy psychology and spirituality in terms of peace and other
issues as well. She is currently working on building a business and
website, because she is a contractor with the Holistic Center of
Pittsburgh. Her website/business is based on psychology and Buddhism.
